University Reception

University Main Building (Fabianinkatu 33), Press Hall Foyer.
The University of Helsinki welcomes the congress participants by treating them to a wine and salad buffet after the first congress-opening day.
NOTE: The number of seats at the University Reception is limited. The earlier you register for CLMPS 2015, the more likely you will get a seat at the University Reception.

City Hall Reception
Time and place: Wednesday, August 5 at 18.30.
Helsinki City Hall (Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13).
The City of Helsinki hosts a welcome reception for the congress quests at the heart of the historic centre next to the sea-side Market Square. After a welcome speech by a city representative, the guests have a chance to enjoy a light buffet dinner and the architecture of the City Hall.
The reception is also open for avecs!
Congress Dinner
Time and place: Friday, August 7, 19.30.
Restaurant Bank (Unioninkatu 20).
The congress dinner is served at the Restaurant Bank, conveniently located a few blocks away from the congress venue the Main Building of the University of Helsinki. The dinner quests a treated to a three course meal in the functionalist-style old bank building with unique wall paintings and ornaments. Restaurant Bank focuses on modern Finnish cuisine prepared from the best seasonal ingredients.
The Congress Dinner requires online preregistration. The price of the dinner is 50 € (incl. three courses and accompanying wines). There might be some extra dinner tickets for sale at the Congress Office during the first congress days.

Helsinki Bus Tour, FULL BOOKED!
During the tour you will see the beautiful Helsinki Cathedral at the Senate Square, the famous church built inside a rock, the Temppeliaukio church and the Sibelius Monument. Your guide will tell you about living in Helsinki in the past and at the present day. Enjoy a tailored tour to the sights that interest you the most.
Post-conference tours

There are three alternatives to post-conference tours: Nuuksio, Porvoo or Tallinn.
All tours are organized by Travel Experience Ltd.
The minimun number of participants for each tour is 20 persons. If there are less than 20 participant for each tour by the 1st July 2015, then the tour will be cancelled and the tour participants already registered will receive back their tour payments.

National Park Nuuksio, CANCELLED

Nuuksio National Park is a unique site of rocky hills, swamps and lakes, only about 30 min drive from downtown Helsinki. First visit the brand new Finnish Nature Centre Haltia where the best of Finland’s natural features and biodiversity is presented. Nature Centre enables people to get perspectives on the natural wonders of the whole country. This goal is reflected in the centre’s stunning architectural design in natural wood, and in its innovative and enthralling exhibits and events.
From Haltia short transfer to the starting point of the hiking trip by a scenic small lake. The nature guides will lead groups to the trails through natural forests and brief you about the ecology, culture and history of the area. There are good possibilities for picking blueberries as early August is normally the best season for that. After hiking trip enjoy lunch in traditional Finnish teepee-style timber hut (kota in Finnish) ) with open fireplaces and reindeer furs to sit on. This special space is sure to provide an exotic and memorable experience.

Old town of Porvoo and Haikko manor, CANCELLED

A 50 minute drive to the east of Helsinki lies Porvoo, Finland’s 2nd oldest town. First stop will be Porvoo old town with a visit next the new Art Factory, superbly renovated factory milieu with concert venues and artists’ studios. Visit the Art Hall at Art Factory displaying exhibitions of contemporary art. From Art Factory walk towards Old Town for a guided walk along river side. Enjoy guided walk through the medieval old quarter, along old cobbled streets of historic painted wooden houses. The town is famous for its ochre-painted shore houses along the riverside. The 13th century cathedral is the town’s major historic landmark.
Continue to Haikko Manor, a delightful combination of history, splendour and nostalgia. Once a manor house of distinguished heritage and site of many royal visits, today it is a restaurant, hotel, and spa set in a beautiful natural setting by the sea. During late 19th century some of the Russian imperial family enjoyed their holidays at Haikko and the Romanov family as well as famous Finnish artist Edelfelt are important part of the manor house´s history. After guided tour in the premises enjoy buffet lunch in the beautiful dining halls of the manor.

Day tour to Tallinn, FULL BOOKED!

Located just 2hours across the Baltic Sea from Helsinki by boat is Tallinn, the medieval capital of Estonia. It makes an easy day excursion.
Depart from Kiasma by coach for a short transfer to the pier. Board the fast boat to Tallinn, a journey time of 2 hours. At Tallinn pier, meet local guide and coach for a short panoramic tour around Tallinn city. Visit Kadriorg Palace and pass the Song Festival Grounds, and learn from the guide a little about modern life in Tallinn. Disembark the coach for a walking tour of the Old Town. Experience the history as you walk through the tight and winding medieval streets up to the top of Toompea Hill which offers fine views across the red roofs of the old buildings to the sea beyond. The walking tour also passes the Parliament Building, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Dome Church and ends at the Town Hall Square.
Enjoy lunch in a local Medieval restaurant.
After free time to shop or relax in a street side cafe, the tour continues back to the port by coach with guide.
Return ferry to Helsinki, followed by coach transfer to Kiasma.
Restaurant Olde Hansa
Medieval restaurant Olde Hansa takes you on a journey to Tallinn's golden age. Olde Hansa takes the visitor back to the Middle Ages through a richly diverse menu featuring authentic dishes prepared according to Medieval standards in an ambiance befitting a wealthy merchant house of the bygone era. Visitors sit on wooden benches with boar skin covers, much like the banquets of medieval lords where guests sat on benches set before trestle tables. Servers in period costume assist with menu recommendations and explanations of unfamiliar selections. Beverages include liquors like berry schnapps, beer with herbs, honey, or cinnamon, and spiced wine.
Kadriorg Palace and Gardens
Peter I began building the palace in 1718, and it was called Ekaterinenthal, or Catherinenthal, in honour of Catherine I. The architect of the temporary summer residence palace and park was the Italian Niccolo Michetti, who was later involved with the famous Peterhof Palace. It is said that the tsar himself laid the first foundation stones for the palace. In the 1930s, Kadriorg Palace became a residence for the head of state. On the same level as the palace, across the back flower garden, lies the president’s office building, built a few years before World War II, which today serves as the residence of the President of the Republic of Estonia. Currently, the baroque Kadriorg Palace is housing the foreign art collection of the Estonian Art Museum, which organizes concerts and theatre performances, lectures and receptions, in addition to art exhibitions.
